With fall coming in Arkansas and in little rock or Hot Springs and Hot Springs village. You should get your concrete cleaned with a high volume pressure washer and getting your concrete sealer done at the same time, Concrete sealing and Cleaning will not only make it look still new, but will also help keep stains from getting worse.

Once your done cleaning it, let it dry and get it ready to be re – sealed, concrete sealing is something you should do every 4 to 5 years, It helps keep the small cracks from getting bigger by stopping water from running down into them and washing away from under the cement slab itself.

If you have cracks we can fix those also and make it almost unnoticeable (depends on the crack) but this will help keep water from getting under the concrete and eating away your base for the driveway and then we let dry before sealing your driveway or patio with a new concrete sealer. If you have a stamped concrete patio or pool deck we can re – acid stain that concrete before adding a concrete sealer.

We use only the best concrete sealer so that when we start the concrete sealing , This will keep that concrete driveway looking top notch for many years to come.

I don’t normally use a “trades” business unless given their name by referral, so I took a chance with A & P Concrete. Mike and his crew were professional, showed up on time, and did what he said he would do to perfection and at a fair price. (They poured and raised a floor inside of a house we purchased that had a step down room so that all the floors were the same level.) They have my business on all future concrete related projects! Highly recommend…..5 ⭐️s.

The Importance of Sealing Concrete: Insights from A & P Concrete Construction

In the realm of construction and home improvement, concrete stands out as a staple material for driveways, patios, and sidewalks. Its durability, versatility, and cost-effectiveness make it a preferred choice for many homeowners and construction professionals alike. However, like any other material, concrete has its vulnerabilities, primarily when exposed to various environmental elements. This is where the importance of sealing concrete surfaces comes into play—a preventative measure that not only prolongs the life of the concrete but also enhances its appearance. A & P Concrete Construction, with its rich experience and expertise, sheds light on the benefits of sealing concrete surfaces and the pitfalls of neglecting this crucial maintenance step.

Benefits of Sealing Concrete

Enhanced Durability

Sealing concrete surfaces significantly enhances their durability. The sealant acts as a barrier, protecting the concrete from moisture penetration, freeze-thaw cycles, and chemical spills—all of which can lead to cracking, scaling, and other forms of deterioration.

Improved Aesthetics

A sealed concrete surface boasts improved aesthetics. Sealants can bring out the natural beauty of concrete, offering a range of finishes from matte to high gloss. This not only makes the concrete look more appealing but can also increase the overall value of the property.

Easier Maintenance

Sealed concrete is easier to clean and maintain. The sealant prevents dirt, grime, and stains from penetrating the surface, making it simpler to wash away any spills with just soap and water.

Mold and Mildew Resistance

Moisture trapped in unsealed concrete can lead to the growth of mold and mildew, posing health risks and affecting the surface’s appearance. Sealing concrete helps in preventing this moisture absorption, thereby mitigating the risk of mold and mildew development.

Downfalls of Not Sealing Concrete

Increased Porosity

Unsealed concrete is more porous, making it susceptible to water absorption. This can lead to a myriad of problems, including cracking, pitting, and other structural damages.

Vulnerability to Stains and Chemicals

Without a protective sealant, concrete surfaces are vulnerable to stains from oil, grease, and chemicals. These substances can penetrate deeply into the concrete, making them difficult, if not impossible, to remove.

Faster Degradation

The absence of a sealant accelerates the degradation process of concrete. Environmental factors such as UV rays, rain, and temperature fluctuations can more readily impact the concrete, shortening its lifespan.

Reduced Aesthetic Appeal

Unsealed concrete tends to look dull and can quickly become discolored due to moisture and dirt accumulation. This can detract from the property’s overall aesthetic appeal and potentially lower its value.

Q&A Section

Q: How often should concrete surfaces be sealed?
A: It’s generally recommended to seal concrete surfaces every 2 to 3 years. However, this can vary based on the type of sealant used and the level of exposure to traffic and weather conditions.

Q: Can I seal my concrete driveway myself, or should I hire professionals?
A: While it’s possible to undertake this as a DIY project, hiring professionals like A & P Concrete Construction ensures that the job is done efficiently and effectively, using the right products and techniques.

Q: Are there different types of concrete sealants?
A: Yes, there are several types of sealants, including acrylics, epoxies, and polyurethanes. Each has its advantages and is suited for different types of applications and exposures.

Q: Does sealing concrete make it slippery?
A: Certain high-gloss sealants can make concrete surfaces more slippery, especially when wet. However, additives can be mixed into the sealant to provide a non-slip surface without compromising the protective qualities.

Q: Will sealing concrete change its color?
A: Some sealants may enhance the natural color of concrete, giving it a slightly darker, “wet” look, while others are entirely transparent. The choice of sealant depends on the desired aesthetic outcome.
